Coffee Jobs In Portland

coffee jobs in portland
Where do the locals go where is San antonio

I flew down here because my brother found a job here and i had just sold my house in Portland OR I arrive to find a town infested with dilapidated shacks and rude locals, the only thing ive seen that ive liked is the riverwalk downtown is a tourist trap the skyline is entirely hotels, where are the music clubs, coffee shops, record stores, comedy clubs and all the other places a city of this size SHOULD have I apologize if ive offended anyone but after five days here i realize i could never live here or even want to visit again.
again i apologize for being blunt I’ll keep an open mind if you could point me in the right direction,Im not talking about housing im looking for something to do, i would ask the locals if i could find a polite one

You need to check the weekender section of the Friday paper to see all the comedy offereings in the city. There are several local improv groups, but the main comedy club is the Rivercenter Comedy Club in the Rivercenter Mall Complex.

Regarding record stores, in addition to the many stores selling DVDs and other forms of music media more commonly used now, there are at least 25 stores in the city which sell LPs and other vinyl records.

I have 7 coffee shops within 6 miles of my house, so I don’t know why you are having trouble finding one. If you have a real need for coffee, go to the corner of Blanco Rd and Loop 1604, there is a Starbucks on all 4 corners in addition to 3 other coffee shops you can throw a rock to.

To make you search easier, here are some of my favorite coffeee shops and there information:

Olmos Perk
5223 McCullough
858-2956

Ruta Maya
107 E. Martin
223- 6292

Candlelight Coffeehouse
3011 N St Marys
738-0099

Timo’s Coffee House
2021 San Pedro
733- 8049

Cafeggio Coffee Shop
19141 Stone Oak Pkwy
490-0600

Of course this is only 5 of the over 100 coffee shops in the city.

Regarding music or other clubs, that would of course depend on the type of music you prefer.

Again I suggest you look at the Weekender section of the San Antonio Express News which has a listing of the groups who are performing and the type of music at which venues in the local area.

Another source is the San Antonio Current Magazine, which you can pick up at many area stores free, and lists many of the clubs and performing groups. They also have listiings on the web at http://www.sacurrent.com/

You cannot expect to move to a different area of the country and have it be exactly like the place you came from. There will be less coffee shops because it is not as common to drink hot liquids all day in a semi-tropical climate.

This city has frequent festivals and other events in the local area, and locals tend to spend a lot of time in outdoor activities, but we don’t contend with the same weather issues that the Northwest Pacific Coast has.

I have moved to many different cities, states, and countries over the years due to my profession. I have learned that you can be miserable anyplace, or you can learn to appreciate each place for what it has to offer. The first key is to look into the loacl information sources, like the newspaper and phonebooks if you want to find something. But never expect anywhere to be like a completely separate part of the country.

I am sorry if you found some people unfriendly. But I usually find that most people’s attitudes are a reflection of your own.
